The following pictures demonstrate the role of the Lion Miter Trimmer. For an example, we are going to cut a 1” x 3” piece of Poplar with a power miter saw, use the Lion Miter Trimmer to finish the cut edges and then glue and clamp the two pieces into a perfect miter.

The poplar is placed and clamped in the miter saw

The miter saw is set at 45 degrees and the wood is cut. Please remember to follow proper safety precautions when using this or any power or hand tool.

The rough cut pieces are shown prior to using the Lion Miter Trimmer. The pieces are not square, in one case the edge is ragged and a small chip remains.

The Lion Miter Trimmer is the next tool used to make the perfect miter in this sequence. Set the right gauge to the 45 degrees mark (factory preset), and trim off a 1/16" (give or take) of material with the Lion Miter Trimmer. Repeat this step on the left side of the Trimmer for the other piece.

This is a reverse view of the Lion Miter Trimmer showing the removal of a small sliver of material.

Glue and clamp the two pieces.

While we have demonstrated the basic technique of using the Lion Miter Trimmer using a simple 1” x 3” piece of Poplar, the trimmer can be used at any angle from 1 to 90º. The Lion Miter Trimmer works with any hard or soft wood and some plastics. With the accessories it can trim multiple pieces to the same length, or trim moldings with hollowed, tapered or curved outside edges. The product is purchased by hobbyists and professionals alike, and can often be found on a convenient shelf in the workshop, or being brought to the jobsite.

Once you own a Lion Miter Trimmer, you will continually find new uses for it both in your workshop and on the job.
